CategoryWhatever your Circumstances
WHATEVER YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES, whatever your past, the forces that determine your future are nowhere but within your own heart and mind. It is here that the star of your destiny shines.
Iron, When Heated & Pounded, Becomes a Fine Sword
Likewise, our true strength and potential cannot be forged without hardships. Do not be daunted by obstacles.
Unless we take one step forward, we cannot take the next
The important thing is to take that first step. Bravely overcoming one small fear gives you the courage to take on the next.
Risk
RISK. I have learned that life is a trade off, nothing is balanced. If you want something, you have to sacrifice something else. To get high in life, you have to aim high.
Bewildered & Overwhelmed
No matter how hard you try to know, no matter how well you prepare or plan, you can never know what’s going to arise in the future. The more you struggle to make yourself secure, the more you live in fear of the future. However, if you simply relax and let go of trying to give yourself some pseudo-security, and are willing to face life in an open way, you will see that your are always fresh in your outlook, you are always coming up with new ideas/inspirations, new solutions, required understanding and clear perceptions, because you are not clinging to your old conditioning/plans.
Quest for Truth
The other night after dinner, Justin asked me this simple question: “Dad what is the difference between all religions, denominations, their teachings and etc.?” Last night Aliah also asked me another simple question: “Dad what do you think about all religion?” I tried to answer it as much as I could, but the reality is…there are many things that we don’t really know or cannot explain and pretending to know all the answers is a wisdom of a fool.
You Choose…
Indeed, in these tough economic times it can be truly difficult and painful for many of us. And while our economy appears to be healthy in some areas; contrasting with the turbulent emotions beneath our surface, especially for those feeling deprived or those dealing with loss. And while most of us make an attempt to put on a happy face, we often feel exhausted in the end, clearly a symptom of something amiss.
Are You Ready?
How many emails have you missed because it either got lost in all the other email you get, or, even worse, was never delivered because it was considered to be spam by your spam filter, or maybe your email server was down for a while and the sender gave up? “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from social networking and emails.”
Persistent Determination
“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan ‘press on’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.”
In the Desert…
A lot of people are going through a financial “desert” these days due to the global recession. One thing sure, the desert is not the place for desserts. The desert is about survival, endurance and stamina. The best and the worst in us come out in the desert, and we also come out either better or worse from any desert experience. The desert makes us realize what is really important and what is really basic in life.
Focus on ‘GOOD’ – not on ‘BAD’…
Most people tend to judge a person on how bad they are – on the negative aspects of their character and not on the positive. We don’t focus on their “clean”, we focus on their “dirt”. A newspaper publisher which only prints good news does not stay in business long.
You Can’t Please Everybody! I’ve tried that…
WE’VE heard this cliché so many times, or is this simply the plain truth? Yup, you’re right! It is difficult, indeed, to please everyone. Each day comes with challenges. We work with people, we move around people. Interaction with others is so much inevitable. We cannot do without others in this game called life. We simply have NO CHOICE but co-exist with other human beings.
Be knowledgeable. Not a know-it-all.
It’s all about attitude. Be it at home or anywhere, a good attitude is an asset. At the same time, a bad or worse still, a know-it-all attitude, could pose serious threats to your personal growth and alienate you in all places. While a “know-it-all” can be avoided like the plague otherwise, dealing with such an individual can become quite challenging.
“ME”
Through our lives we are conditioned into an EGOIST state of mind where we view ourselves as somehow separate from the rest of the world but at the same time the CENTER of it. It is an illusionary state in which we identify with a set of concepts, feelings, opinions, and judgments about past experiences. Then wrap it all into a big ball convince ourselves that our big ball of “nothingness” is a rock solid substantial thing, it is our own little shadow “reality” in which we root our identity, and we name it “ME”.
Aliah’s Desire… “Revival and Unity”
We are living in days of great opportunity. Many of us have prayed and prayed that God would break out with a move of His Holy Spirit that would not only revolutionise the church but would be a catalyst for a spiritual awakening in our city at large.
